Medusa (Medousa) in Greek Mythology was a beautiful young woman who possessed a beautiful mane of hair, she was celebrated for her beauty and rivaled Athena. While worshipping in the temple of Athena she was raped by Neptune. Athena was outraged and punished Medusa by turning her magnificent hair into snakes and giving her the power to any man into stone who gazed upon her…..it’s a fascinating tale.

Medusa belongs to the following groups:

Greek and Roman Mythology and Myths, Legends and Fairytales Available for sale as

beautiful. I had not heard that story before. It makes me think of the symbolism behind it. The baggage a woman can carry after assault remains. The hair as a symbol of her spiritual selfh as become biting predators. The men in her life have to deal with it too. I love myths.

  • Shanina Conway replied

It’s a fascinating tale…be sure to search it out, as it’s a great read..Freud had much to say about it to . It’s interesting how Athena inflicted her rage on Medusa and not Neptune;)
