Charles Fort was a Dutch-American writer who has inspired sci-fi writers with his wild and often visionary glimpses into the future. Today the word Fortean has come to mean anomalous phenomena.
Fort was fascinated with UFO’s, the existence of other worlds and he predicted the space race, and how space travel would someday become commercialized.
Stephen King used the works of Charles Fort in The Firestarter, and his influenced many writers and his influence can be seen in Hellboy, the Necronauts, The Morning of the Magicians and if you get a chance to read his works, you’ll find even more instances where he has influenced popular culture.

There’s a very interesting magazine I used to buy a few years ago called Fortean Times, with stacks of weird phenomena – fascinating stuff.

The Fortean Times carried on the tradition of documenting all things to do with UFO’s, the paranormal and obsure. Charles Fort spent his whole life documenting unexplained happenings, he died in the mid 1930’s. Fort wrote a few books, a great read too. If you are interested go to sacred-texts.com and search for Charles Fort;)
