These big old wooden doors of the armoury on James Street North probably haven’t opened in decades. Their threshold becomes a makeshift bench for a Hamiltonian who looks likes he could use a break.
It’s so cliché when people say that a song is timeless but sometimes it happens to be true. Marvin Gaye’s “Make Me Wanna Holler”; better known by its pseudonym “Inner City Blues”, is such a timeless song. It’s my all time favourite MG jam.
That’s the song that popped into my head when I saw this man sitting there somewhat pensive; coffee cup by his side and cigarette between his fingers. He looked like he was just about to holler and throw up both his hands. Truth be told, he never did. He just sat there, and kept his cool.
