The Beach
This is a photograph I took on Hove Beach, I then rotated 90 degrees. I wanted a perspective abstract look and composed the shot so the layer of textures were of equal depth, walkway, beech, sea & sky. Only a very slight contrast in post editing, nothing more.

Hi Alix
Love the contrast, colours, etc but to be honest I think it looks a much much better shot the right way up
Best regards
Paul
Alixzandra replied
Cheers Paul
Did you turn your laptop around to view the right way!! I have added the Landscape version to the right. Thanks for feeding back. Appreciated.
Marguerite Foxon
I like the concept but agree with Paul above that the landscape view is more satisfying to me to view.
Alixzandra replied
Added the Landscape original to the right Marguerite. when I took it, I knew I wanted to rotate it to make an ordinary beach shot, become alittle bit more unique and have my Take on it in an abstract way Thanks for your feedback, appreciated.
Mark Tull
I couldn’t resist another look, love the abstract feel that the rotation gives..
Alixzandra replied
Well that was what I intended When I took this photograph. The layers seemed so perfect and I wanted to do something different with a landscape of a beach..just put an Alix twist on it to make it unique. Thanks for coming back for a second look. Appreciated :)
JUSTART

I love the abstract effect the rotation brings. Had to really look at it. Love the nearly evenly spaced ‘lines’. Great idea!
Alixzandra replied
Thanks very much dlamb, I’m glad you like the rotation. Yes, I couldn’t do much with the nearly even cloud section lol ! darn mother nature :)
Denis Dalby

Amazing. Although I have to admit I’m with Paul and would like to see it in landscape
Alixzandra replied
Landscape added to the right Spencer….and thanks to the group and hosts for the feature :)

Hi Alix
I had to screw my neck to get the landscape view originally!! My wife thinks I look a lot better that way, so now I walk around in abstract thanks to you.
Best regards
Paul
Alixzandra replied
Haha! sorry about that! :) thanks Paul
Wayne Pearson
Yeah…. I love this, it stretches the boundaries ,not for the sake of it but because YOU can, in the end, it’s all for the fun of it all. This is beautifully taken and visualized.
Alixzandra replied
Thank you Wayne, and yes I agree about the boundary stretching!
dkspecial
the search for the flag is over
Alixzandra replied
Ah now, if only Brighton and Hove would adopt it as the new flag of Brighton eh!!! Cheers dk.

Yip, this did the the usual to me, loved it (obviously), started looking closer, and whoaaa, great idea/execution, keep pushing those boundaries, s’what it’s all about in my opinion.

I like the layers of texture and tones in this Alix. I guess this is what the dude on the bench would have seen if he’d turned around.
Alixzandra replied
Well, he looked like a creative type of bloke, so he possibly would have seen ‘The Beach’ as I did through my lens :) Thanks Mark
Paul Vanzella
Totally love your thinking here!
Alixzandra replied
Thankyou Mr V.
Themis

Skip Hunt
It’s a great concept… and I think it works from just about every orientation. My fav might be upside down from normal, but sideways works nicely as well.
Alixzandra replied
okay Skip, so I turned my laptop around, and yes it looked cool upside down too :-) Any which way goes huh Cheers for commenting.
Mark Peterson
Love how you turned this…very clever and creative Alix…nice job ;)
Alixzandra replied
Thank you Mark :-) Its lovely to hear from you, and I know a compliment from you is a good feedback. x

This composition is so well balanced, so universal that I think the image will work oriented in any direction. It’s got something to do with perfection!
Alixzandra replied 25 days ago
Many thanks for the positive feedback Thierry. Glad you like it!

nice one, a lot of thought went into making this.
Alixzandra replied 5 days ago
I was actually sitting in one of the many victorian shelters having a break looking out to sea and the layers were there! it was only a matter of composition of the photograph. I’m really pleased with this, it’s kinda a unique photograph of Hove promenade :) Many thanks.
