Made in Melbourne by Alistair Wilson

A wide panorama taken shortly after sunset of the city of Melbourne, Australia, in all its glory. In the very left of the image is the end of the St Kilda pier with many boats moored there. Tonight was very still which made it a bit easier to capture as the tripod wasn’t getting battered by the wind. I also have wrapped some road bike grip tape around my tripod legs to keep my hands warm in case I forget gloves and it works a treat! I wouldn’t mind getting this one blown up and put on my wall at home..

  1. Canon 40D, 17-85mm EF-S. FL: 66 mm
  2. 15 seconds @ f8, ISO 100
  3. Cokin ND4 (2 Stop) Graduated Filter
  4. Adobe Lightroom 3 & Adobe Photoshop CS4

My tripod with added hand warmers!

Photography for me is an outlet, a way I can express myself through images rather than words. I look at the subjects I shoot from every possible angle that I can imagine and with the right light, the vision in my head becomes a reality. My passion for it began after high school and over the past several years it has become my release, my way of seeing from a different perspective..

Outstanding work mate, and agree it would look pretty awesome blown up big! How many shots is this?

  • Thanks mate this is 6 shots shot horizontally not vertically, it always seems easier when merging them to do it that way

    Nice pano mate!

Yeah I have found it easier sometimes doing landscape mode as well. I think it would work better in portrait if I could afford a proper pano head!
