This morning was my first visit to Cement Creek which I had seen many photos of before and I hope I did it some justice with my version. I took a few different angles of certain spots along the creek including one instance where I climbed a tree to get a good vantage point although that was obviously not this image! Was so glad this area didn’t get touched by the Black Saturday bushfires, after a breakfast stop at Warbuton I drove back up the mountain and took Acheron Way to Marysville and it was clear that the impact from the fires touched many areas close to this spot.
As a result of the fires that started on Saturday the 7th of February 2009 38% of the Yarra Ranges National Park was destroyed and slowly but surely many of the scenic spots in the park are starting to be rebuilt with new tracks and are being opened again to the public. Taken near Mount Donna Buang, Victoria, Australia

Sheer paradise, superbly photographed, Alistair! An outstanding image!!!!
Thanks very much Phil, I was happy with this one. Reminded me a lot of Marysville before Black Saturday so I felt very much at home, was quite emotional

Well done!
I really appreciate you sharing your settings, these ones are hard to light like this.
Thanks mate, yeah it’s always difficult when one little white patch is so bright and the surrounding area so dark! Manual exposure is the only choice especially in these conditions where sometimes av at f8 will shoot for 5 seconds and then the next shot 20 seconds! It’s quite easy for the camera to get fooled and it finds it very hard to meter properly

You certainly did this justice Al, well done. You’re giving me a tour of my own back yard- I’m going to have to get out there more.
Cheers mate, can’t believe how close these spots are to Melbourne. It’s fantastic

Great shot Alistair, its nearly too perfect, almost looks like a TV set.
Thanks Garth, I was astonished by the clarity of the little rock in the river when I processed the photo it, almost looks like I put it there in photoshop or something..
