Whilst standing up here this evening I had to ask myself.. is this the safe thing to do? But then I thought, if we never took risks then that would be a boring way to live. This one was taken from the same spot as a couple of my other Portsea images but at a different time and day.

My original intention was to get a good sunset around the eastern side of the London Bridge but the tide was a lot higher than I expected so I climbed back up to this spot instead and it was definitely worth it :)

I had to put the ISO up a fair bit to keep the exposure time down as it was almost dark. Luckily I can get away with it with this camera, the picture would be a lot grainier had I used my 40D.

The London Bridge is located on the ocean side of Portsea in the Mornington Peninsula National Park, Victoria, Australia. It’s only a short walk down to this spot from the car park.

Photography for me is an outlet, a way I can express myself through images rather than words. I look at the subjects I shoot from every possible angle that I can imagine and with the right light, the vision in my head becomes a reality. My passion for it began after high school and over the past several years it has become my release, my way of seeing from a different perspective..

There are calculated risks in everything we do Alistair…and this is beautiful. Beautifully dynamic and moody with great rock detail. Well done.

  • Thanks Sals, I had a hard time getting a good exposure with the water coming through the gap in the rocks without it being too high at the bottom of the pic, I liked this one the most :)

Lovely water movement Alistair, there’s so much of it too that it really pulls the eye around the image nicely. and that’s a great sky hanging over the top to finish it off.

  • Thanks Stuart, appreciate the comment mate

Top shot Alistair as you know it can be a risk just staying at home..

  • Thanks Donovan, that is also true.. I hope everything is well up Marysville way. I’ve only been up once since we lost our place but am looking forward to getting up there a bit more often soon to get some closure

Those storm clouds look menacing and the ocean plenty mean, great shot Alistair!!

  • Thanks John, always appreciate you dropping by! It sure was mean tonight, sounded like gun shots when the waves hit the rocks

Great work mate, love the details in the rock face :))

  • Thanks Simone! Think I’m becoming to love this spot, there’s still a few shots I haven’t managed to get yet. There’s so many other spots on the other side of the bay that I have to get to one day as well
