A re edit of a pic I already have on here which was a HDR image, trying to steer away from it unless I find it appropriate. I like this one better in a lot of ways sometimes it’s better not to see all the hidden details.
Processed in Adobe Lightroom 2. Gear out in the field – Canon 400D, Velbon tripod, 10-22mm lens, shutter release, nd grad filter. Enjoy :)
This image was the winner of the “Part of the Sun” (Sunset or Sunrise) Challenge in the “Mornings & Evenings — Sunbeams & Storms” Group on the 7th of April 2009.
Great shot, love the composition and great colour. I agree about HDR, sometimes the shadow is better than the detail. Shadow is mood, feel, atmosphere. Remove the shadow and you compromise those in some way. And if you push the HDR too far you get a cartoon which I generally don’t go too much on. Having said that sometimes an HDR of a shot is great in its own different way.
cheers garth, yeah i definitely agree with you, a shot done right with just the one exposure will always have more over a multi exposured shot i think :)

Alistair this is a wonderful capture – your timing is spot on. Love the way the shape of the glow from the sun is reflected in the shape of the waves.
thankyou very much geraldine :)
