Excellent movement in the clouds, nice one. Come back in another 365 days and compare the pier.
Alistair Wilson replied
Cheers Drec, yeah that’s not a bad idea, I’m surprised the council hasn’t deemed this structure unsafe and demolished it as it’s in a pretty popular area, so glad they haven’t though
Michael Walters
Cracking shot mate, really love the long exposure and colours! Sky looks fantastic
Alistair Wilson replied
Thanks mate, thought i’d give it a bit of a go so much extra noise even at iso 100 with these sorts of shots though :(

what the hell as happened to that pier!! oh man, i was there not that long ago and it was fine. such a shame, excellent photo tho, one of your best, the long exposure is stunning here.
Alistair Wilson replied
Cheers mate, it’s completely wrecked! I swear I was only hear not that long ago either and all of a sudden this has happened I hope it’s not at the point where the council declares it “an unsafe” structure and knocks it down. Thanks for the compliment mate cheers

Brilliant shot Alistair. In a few years it will probably not be there.I have seen the destruction of 3 jettys here and more are going. They are earmarked for demolition as they are safety hazards.Well done.
Alistair Wilson replied
Yeah I know it can’t be long before they take this jetty away from us, such a shame!

One of the best shots I’ve seen in a while, and I’ve seen quite a few. The exposure, composition, light and in fact everything else is perfect in this shot. But mostly, it conveys a feeling of peace and tranquility which makes it a pleasure to look at.
Wonderful work!!
Robyn Maynard
Stunning!
TannFotografia
That is an excellent shot Alistair – i’m curious as to how you managed such a long shot without having a problem with noise. I have tried long exposure shots with a d300 and the results were not as i wanted to say the least. I must be doing something wrong.
Alistair Wilson replied
Thanks for the comment, trust me when viewed large and zoomed in there is noticable noise. some cameras are better than others when it comes to iso sensitivity my 40D is pretty average. Most digitals suffer over this sort of length of time though
TannFotografia
Ok thanks – i will be trying some more ling exposures in future.
Alistair Wilson replied
No worries
Atheum
Wow, that’s incredible. Well, it might be breaking down, but it certainly looks like it has seen worse weather. Excellent capture, Alistair.
