Photo to Lineart

Posted 1 day ago

Lets have a look at changing a photograph to lineart. Some photos are going to be easier to convert to lineart than others. For example, the simpliest would be anything with straight, definate lines … like buildings, walls, furniture etc., Some images are going to convert well straight away, others may need a little more manipulation.

You are going to have a couple of different filters …

Pretty Bubbles - Photoshop Tutorial

Posted 3 days ago

This incorporates a couple of things – shapes, type, different filters and techniques. It really doesn’t matter what the end result is, seeing the way it is achieved, is.

The point is that you can use anything you want in this tutorial … scale down one of your own images and warp that, look at some my other tutorials and use a clipping mask to place one of your own images inside the text …

Last post for a couple of days

Posted 27 days ago

We are moving house tomorrow, so I’ll be busy all day and hopefully sleeping at the new house tomorrow evening. It will probably take Telstra a couple of days to type in the code for the broadband to get hooked up though, so I’ll be off line till they do it.

See you when I get back online.

Vignette, Selection, Action

Posted 29 days ago

Vignettes are easy to create in Photoshop. You can try one out on the image below if you like. Make a selection with the rectangular marquee tool inside of the image, go to Select>Modify>Feather and choose about 75 pixels on a low res image – go to Select>Inverse – then use the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl + J and it will paste the selection into a new layer for you, and then you can change the …

Adding depth to eyelashes

Posted about 1 month ago

This is a really simple way to add a little depth to someone’s eyelashes and even eyebrows if you wanted to. It isn’t beauty retouching, and there are quite a few eyelash brushes available on the net if you feel inclined to give someone a whole new set of eyelashes.

You can practise on my son’s eyes, just click through for the larger image.

Type Effect

Posted about 1 month ago

I can’t remember where I first saw this done, but it’s another effect that you can use on type. You can use this on images as well, and perhaps you could do the Grunge Type and use this effect as well.

I’ve started with a 800px X 400px image @ 72 dpi and filled it with a blue colour. Grab your type tool and…

Cool Effect with the Shape Tool

Posted about 1 month ago

Here’s a cool effect that you may want to try out at sometime.

Create a new file 500px X 600 px with a transparent b/ground @ 72 dpi and then duplicate the layer. This is just a file to practise on :-)

Grab your Shape Tool and choose Custom, then go to the top toolbar and pick the black triangle shape. Working from the centre of the image, draw the shape upwards past the top of the fi…

Type and the Pattern Maker

Posted about 1 month ago

I’m pretty sure that Corey Barker over at Layers Magazine is the person who originally did this effect.

So, what you are going to be doing, is using some type and the pattern maker inside of Photoshop to make a background. It’s a really cool effect, and remember that this isn’t necessarily limited to type – you could also use an image for another cool effect.

To practise on, create a new…

Sorry that I've been missing lately

Posted about 1 month ago

Sorry that I’ve been missing for the last couple of days.

My Dad has been in hospital for the last 4 weeks and had to have another operation a couple of days ago. I don’t think that the poor love is faring very well away from his family, and we all miss not having him around.

Depending on whether this latest op has stopped the infection spreading will depend on how soon he can come hom…
