Let me introduce you to the world of the Scritch.
The Scritch inhabit the planet Zaron,it is the 5th of 9 worlds in the Xentii system and one of the 3 that can support life of any kind.
Zaron is G type star having mountains, deserts, swamps, rivers and oceans.
Millenia ago the Scritch broke away into 3 subcultures, they are the “Desert Scritch”
Swamp Scritch and Ocean Scritch.
I am going to tell you about the Desert Scritch today.
The Desert Scritch live in family pods or caverns which are created by “driving ” Borers through the sandstone.
( Borers are a giant sandworm, with some reaching a girth of 25’ in diameter)
Borers are a gentle beast and are tied closely to the Scritch society not only because of the tunneling, but because of the thick “essence” the worm secretes as it move on its journey through the sand.
This essence is harvested by the Desert Scritch.
It is then processed and sold in vials under the name “Essence of Youth” and sold for a high price to off-world traders if the Scritch ever atain space travel, they could become very rich indeed.
The “essence stops aging in many beings.
The dead sandworms also provide food for the Scritch.
Maybe soon I will write about the Worms, but not today.
Tomorrow I may tell you about the Swamp Scritch, and maybe not.
There are a great many races to tell about.
“May the sand be at your back”
