Mexican Saint / Sancta Susana ora pro nobis by

This is when I started to use real people for my works. She brought me pictures of saint death from Mexico. I asked her for it because I had heard about this saint that was supposed to be the patron saint of the beggars and the thieves. At the black market she found them amidst all kinds of other occult stuff. The sales woman did not allow her to buy the bigger versions because you have to pray to them every day.

In another work of art I will probably use one of those saint death images, or that idea, but this Mexican saint is pretty much alive. I also made a postcard out of it, it is for sale here in Berlin.

  • Thanks, but you can easily make that plural. The hands for instance were photographed separate from the rest. And then the background….
