Pen & ink with coffee wash, 10 × 8″ From a photo of my Great-Grandfather at the grocery store/dance hall/apartment he built in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. The building still stands and has been converted to condos.
Great drawing… and to have that personal history makes it such fun… ;-)))))
Thanks James. The drawing is from a few years ago, but I have a Redbubble voucher burning a hole in my pocket. Thought this would make nice cards for the family. :)
I’ve done some inks like that but never thought to use tea staining. sample
That’s great Jack! I love old time things, and that vintage aesthetic, so the staining lends itself well to that end. I’ve also used stout to stain the drawings, and I have examples of those here as well.

Love these old sketches! Awesome history too… imagine if you had a condo there too eh?
We thought about it Jake, but the available unit wasn’t large enough for our family of 5. :) Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you, this one is several years old Janne, but I tend to bounce around with my mediums. Will I ever find a style & stick to it? :)
