"Chains" at the Saatchi Gallery, London! by

A photo of “Chains” on display 1/06/09 at the new Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea, London after winning round 2 of the Showdown.

I received this email today from the Saatchi Gallery:

Dear Alice

I am delighted to inform you that your work is currently being exhibited in the Saatchi Gallery – please find attached a photograph of your work on display. Below is the label that we are using for the work.

Pastel on paper

55 × 38 cm

Yahoo!!! I’m still waiting to hear details about any openings, and plan to get a last minute flight soon to see it hanging in person. Too excited for words!

xx ~ Alice

I specialize in figurative charcoal drawing. My work was recently shown and sold at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Current works delve into the realm of symbolism and magic realism.
All of my drawings are meant to be noble representations of individual subjects, and also bring together a wealth of influences, recognition of art history and myth and a contemporary attitude to create images that are of the moment, but hopefully will also remain relevant in the future.

I’m not one bit surprised that this pastel was chosen Alice. It has this amazing quality of light in it. The pose is a knockout. And your facility with color is, as always, gorgeous. But I did want to come by and say congrats – even though the acceptance was reward enough.

BIG QUESTION: Does this mean there will be at least one fly-by of a London pub for a draft of Guinness? LOL!

  • You’re right Michael, I am more than fortunate to have this opportunity. I did promise friends who voted for my work that I would keep them posted about when the work is shown – especially my British friends who might pop in to see it! And yes, a few of them are going out of their way to meet me for a pint, even in some of the best Irish music pubs in London! :-) Cheers for your always kind remarks! xx

    F.*+K(&G Nice One!!

  • Not bad, eh? :) Woohoo! I just found a nice flat to let in South Kensington, just a short walk to Saatchi. We’ll be there the last week of January and are invited to a private opening at the gallery. I guess I’m living the dream life of an artist. So where’s all the money? Haha!
