Alice McMahon White

Make your own book at Blurb.com

I’ve published my own art book The White Album: a portrait of adolescence at blurb.com. I’m also working on a book of my Black Butterfly series and poetry to use as a promotional piece to pump up my portfolio for gallery submissions.

I only just ordered my book and haven’t seen the hard copy yet, but I’ve seen a finished book at my gallery. 33 Collective used blurb.com to produce an exhibition catalog, Collective Resonance . The quality of the printing is very good!

You have to download the software, and it’s fairly user friendly. Be sure to drop me a line if you get your own book. I’d love to see what you come up with! Have fun!

As much as I know about Twitter, I do believe I already did? LOL. I’ve been looking carefully at some of the books already published on the site – a good way to learn. And I think I already sold my first copy! Woot! :)

    hello :)
I’m almost finished my first book workin with blurb as all my research pointed to them being the best quality etc etc over the other pod bookmaking sites…
anyways, yes, i’m stuck on one page at the moment that i’m not happy with ( i’m a poem short lol) but after that page is done, i’ll have finished my first book its called “A mind that rhymes” its compiled of my darker art and poems… 60 pages at the moment, cant wait til i finish it and actually get a copy!
Shannon (aka hahpistuff) has just finished her book thru Lulu.. it looks really good too!
I have a few others opf different genres and mediums that are in the works too…. its very addictive! :)
By the way your book looks AMAZING! you’ve done a great layout, and of course your art rocks! hope you sell heaps! i’ll have to get one when i have my finances settled! :)

Mine are each 26 pages. 60?! That’s ambitious! And it IS addictive! I made two books today – a third planned with my Irish art. I suppose I could try travel photos too, but I don’t think I’m photog techie enough to win at that game. Maybe for a personal memoir type of thing it would be nice as a keepsake.

I had a bit of trouble with the software crashing a few times, but I finally got something I was happy with for the second “Butterfly” book too. Here’s the url: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/615464

Thanks for having a look dimarie, and I appreciate the kind words. Best wishes with the finish – and fingers crossed for some sales.

Oh no, I hope it’s not that addictive!
I was just checking Blurb out on the weekend, so I’m glad you’ve had a good experience with them.

The free software tends to glitch occasionally, but not too bad. I haven’t made a new book today, so I guess I’m not a Blur junkie yet. whew!
