I re-visited this poppy field in Chartham Downs, Kent as I was rained off on the first visit.
The pink poppies in the foreground really were that colour. It’s unusual to see more than the odd one or two in amongst the red.
Having run into the man who takes care of the land I learned that the purple flowers are wild lupin. Both the poppies and the lupin are sown for the sole purpose of providing the young pheasants with seed to keep them from straying far.
