Well the dramatic skyline is just as good as the majestic blues over the sea of red Alice. It adds a real sense of drama and atmosphere. Looks great in portrait view too with the poppies leading right up into those dramatic clouds and there’s a hint of my favourite tree line too.
Stuart, thank you very much for your kind comments. This year I seem to only be getting these skies. Whenever I decide to go out for poppies the weather changes drastcially, it’s actually getting quite funny! Yes, that is your favourite tree line! I have a few with more of the tree line but this was probably my favourite uphill shot.
PS: Your directions were brilliant as usual but I still think its the same field I saw from the main road!! :D

Actually I think the grey clouds look better than blue skies, makes the poppies really stand out
Thanks Felicity, I agree that they add something extra and provide a sense of foreboding, but it would be nice to have a few with the simple, summery contrast of the blue!!

Glad my directions helped. It’s so much easier with Google Maps to scout out parking places (especially with street view). Google maps can also show the beach terrain too as I need to find some new stretches of beach come August I think.
I also took about 60 shots of that treeline Tuesday night. Got one with the sun setting between a gap in the trees but the sky’s too similiar to the other shot with the poppies in.
Google maps is brilliant on street view, I use it a lot. Am playing around with a shot from here that my creative quarter decided would be a good idea… I’m not sure how it will pan out but it might be a fun image!!

Makes a stunning card
The fields around Kent are blooming this year, there is one in Tenterden just by the garden centre if you know if full of poppies! Off there at the weekend
