Woronora Dam

On the weekend was Mothers Day and the whole family went for a picnic at Woronora Dam. Allthough I was preoccupied with eating, I still managed to squeeze in a few shots of this interesting Dam.
One thing that really struck me was how empty it seemed. A sign of the ongoing water crisis in Sydney and Australia. You can see where the original level used to be at the start of the trees to the right.
I certainly will think twice about singing under the shower for 20 minutes…

Woronora Dam collects water from the catchment of the Woronora River, which drains into the dam and then to Georges River. The dam supplies water to residents within the Sutherland Shire in Sydney’s south."

Length: 390 metres
Capacity: 71,790 megalitres
Catchment: 75 square kilometres
Lake: 4 square kilometres

The Dam is currently at 34.9% of its capacity.
