Astia is one Fuji emulsion I haven’t tried yet, but, by the looks of this, I am going to have to give it a go! This is absolutely marvellous, Alex.

  • Thank you Brett. I’ve tried Astia a few times and it seems to hold up quite well during long exposures. I may use it a bit more from time to time when I need accurate colors and don’t want any color casts in the shadows.

Great capture Alex…can’t go wrong with Astia, I find I use it more often than Velvia these days. Holds up extremely well to long exposure too, which you’ve clearly illustrated with this work:)

  • Thank you Tim. I’ve heard it works well for snow scenes as well so I’m sure I’ll give it more tries this winter. Velvia can turn snow some crazy colors sometimes.

This is an excellently exposed shot, it’s almost like daylight! I’d guess 5 minutes, with a strong moon.

  • Thanks Kevin! It was actually 16 minutes at f8. I lit the tent up from the inside with a flashlight for about 3 minutes. I actually just got back from the sand dunes but the weather was nowhere near this nice.
