    Lovely

  • Thanks so much, David. This work was done back in 2007 and is a commentary to a campaign poster from the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP), aimed at deporting foreigners – residents without Swiss citizenship – who commit crimes. The poster shows three white sheep kicking out a black sheep from a backdrop of the Swiss flag.

Are the inky marks a reference to the Helvetica font? . . . . . Quoting from Wiki: ‘The aim of the new design was to create a neutral typeface that had great clarity and no intrinsic meaning in its form’ . . . . . sounds a little like the Swiss self image.

  • This work doesn’t have anything to do with the Helvetica typeface, Jules.
This image was done back in 2007 and is a commentary to a campaign poster from the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP), aimed at deporting criminal foreigners and all their innocent family members – residents without Swiss citizenship –. The poster shows three white sheep kicking out a black sheep from a backdrop of the Swiss flag. Thanks.

Ha . . . . probably one of your most immediately comprehensible pieces, and I start reading stuff into it that isn’t there . . .
But a great image anyway . . . . . perfectly captures the isolation of the discriminated against and the implacable two world paradigm of the discriminators.
