Thanks so much, Paul. It’s the place were the lava gets in to the ocean. I took a 3 hours boat tour (Lavaocean Adventures). It’s a big difference when you experience the smell, clouds and heat of the lava flow up close. Tho boat was getting as close as 20 feet from the lava flow.
Hah, I thought it was the shape of a woman at first :P Amazing shot! The colours are amazing. And whoa, actual lava. Beautiful!!
Kristine, Thanks so much for your comments and compliments. As the legend goes, sometimes you can see Madame Pele (the goddess of fire, lightning, dance, volcanoes) in the lava flow. This photo was taken were the lava flow gets in to the ocean. To photograph the lava closer I took a 3 hours boat tour (http://www.lavaocean.com/) . It’s a big difference when you experience the smell, clouds and heat of the lava flow up close. Tho boat was getting as close as 20 feet from the lava flow. This photo was taken in the dark but in my photo ”In Search of Madame Pele” is a day shot and you can see how close people get to the flow to photography it.
