It looks like you were really close. Amazing capture.

  • Thanks so much, Teresa. I was there over the past weekend and I took a boat tour. (Lavaocean Adventures). We were as close as 20 feet from the flow.

Hi, Alex, this is a great capture. What a wonderful vantage point you had! We were there this past summer and watched the lava “show” from land. I remember seeing a boat get very close to the flow and even saw a column of air and steam twist around as the huge clouds of steam formed when lava entered the ocean. It was amazing to see. (I have a long distance shot on Red Bubble so you can see the other perspective.) Also you may want to enter this in the group In the Eye of Danger.

Thanks so much, Anthony. If you have the chance take (Lavaocean Adventures) boat tour. It’s a big difference when you experience the smell and heat of the lava flow. The eruption shots (Kalapana 2 & 4) are from last year’s eruption.

Wow the lava looks like an American Indian. With a feather, long hair and flowing robes! Or maybe that is just me.

  • Thanks for your comments. It looks a little bit. Every time lava moves another image is created.
