the zen of shooting .....

free-pistol
50 metre
the most demanding
the longest in distance
in duration
concentration
on breath
inhale
exhale ….
raising the arm,
focusing on the sights
a barely perceptible pressure on the trigger
the gun firing as if by itself ……
a rhythm develops
all becomes timeless
relaxed
like zen meditation
watching the breath ……

i have done quite a bit of shooting many years ago…you have coined it perfectly…awesome…

  • thanks, Rocky
I loved it – had such a collection of beautiful pistols … Italian Domino, Toz 35, FWB and my favourite, Smith&Wesson K38 single action with a trigger smooth as butter, used to annoy the hell out of the men in the local pistol club with that, winning the macho Centre Fire events – their only lady member :)
Then the Pt Arthur massacre and the politicians using that to make owning a gun so laden with rules it took the fun out of the sport. Only ever shot paper targets ….. great relaxation.

…After around 500 rds., my eye starts to see the target better! Cool writing. :)

  • And I thought 60 shots in 90 minutes was tough! :)
Ron reminds me that ladies didn’t normally do the 60 shoot but I was the only lady there so I shot with the men.

    Thank you.
Nice to share with a couple of blokes who know what it’s about :)
