Two of the six native hen chicks, hatching up some mischief together. Eight weeks old today and full of energy and tricks.

    Beautifully captured Alenka.

  • Thank you, Julie …. they pose so nicely, quite unconcerned by me. The parents brought them down from the big pond to the house within a day or two of hatching and so they are used to us being here.

Wonderful capture Alenka, they look delightful. Was in Tassie this year for several weeks Sept/Oct and Native Hens were on my list to capture. Was able to get some lovely shots of mature birds only. Just love these two chickees…………………………………Leslie

  • Thank you, Leslie :) They are such characters, aren’t they? So loving and caring of each other. The parents first arrived up at our pond last year just before nesting time, set up home at the pond and had six chicks. The chicks stay with them almost a year, until it’s time to go off and have chicks of their own.
