Julian Assange for PRESIDENT by

Lawyers for Julian Assange say they fear that their client will be given the death penalty if he is sent to the United States where prosecutors are building a case against him.
…….I say….make him President!!

“We cannot survive the way things are going,” Julian Assange told the French radio station Europe 1, complaining that Wikileaks ability to garner online donations has been blocked.

The USA and it’s president are so corrupt that they will do anything to stop freedom of speech from Wikileaks

.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been named “Man of the Year” by French newspaper Le Monde.

  • Thanks Karen….I love it too…….it was a spontaneous drawing that I needed to get up quick because I wanted to give continued and immediate support to WikiLeaks supporters in light of the latest news release. I’m happy that this image does the job!

Stacey and I are at complete odds over this guy. He says that there has been entirely too much secrecy and I say that it is reprehensible that he could have put our troops on the ground in more harms way than they already are. And how may Austrailian troops are there in the current wars any way? You know that I am a big supporter of ending the wars, but I don’t think that I can go along with you on this as long as American blood is at stake. My cousin just came back from his 4th tour in Iraq and his son goes in March. Let’s see you what yoou think of Assange when you have a vested interest at stake.

  • Deb I’m not sure of what your saying. What I do know is that Assange is unveiling secrets that will end wars.

I do not think that I can be more clear , Albert. Your country does not have as many lives at stake in the wars as mine does. And some of those lives are members of my own family who are serving and have served in the current wars. I think that this opportunistic person has not given any thought to the lives of our fighting men and women when he is leaking information that does not need to be leaked to the public at this time. What he has done is not a means to an end in stopping the wars. And any information that is leaked just has the potential to incite radical extremists even more. I do not know why you can not see that.

  • Well, I don’t know all the facts Deb. Maybe you know more than me …or maybe you’re guessing. I’m guessing what Julian Assange is doing is for the good of all. Anyhow I got your point and I hope you’re wrong.

  • Giving Julian the death penalty sounds absurd and just sounds like the criminal element in the USA gone crazy. This is mainly what this art work is about.

I do not think the death penalty is out of line if it can be directly proven that his actions caused the deaths of any of our troops. But that is a gray area. If there is not direst proof, then I do think the death penalty is a bit overboard. However at this point we do not know what the damage may be. In any event, life behind bars is an option I would certainly support. He committed a crime against The United States of America and its people. He knew what he was doing when he did it. So now he has to face the consequences just like you or I would if we did the same thing. There are plenty of things wrong with The United Kingdom that you could be raising a voice in protest over rather than this. In fact, I have a mental list.

No, it is not. I am talking about any and all top secret classified papers pertaining to our American diplomats abroad annd/or any papers pertaining to military intelligence which were ciculated to government officials who were in need of that information.

  • Maybe there was certain information in those papers that would help end the Afghan war. …and any other possible wars that the US would start.

Albert, I find that highly doubtful. And in view of that, I find it highly irresposible to put innocent people in government posts in compromised positions. When dealing with a highly complex war such as these are, there are no simple answers. And especially when forced to deal with radical extremists, it is essential that as little information as possible be given out. Extremists will jump on a most minute data to justify terrorist activity.

  • I sure you’re wrong and I like to hear what Stacey has to say. You were so anti-war! What happened to your anti-war stance?
I suppose this featured in Gems…..is out of the question?

I think, it might be going a bit far to say Assange for President; but, then, I also think that’s a tongue in the cheek joke, anyway; and, something not to be taken far too seriously. ;-)

As to the war in Afghanistan; I think, it should stop; as, basically, I’m anti-war. I don’t agree with people who say we must say nothing against our troops/country; instead, we must only support them. To me, that just sounds like censorship; and, censorship which supports war. With an attitude like that then Americans would still be in Vietnam blowing up totally innocent people/including raping/and, torturing them/and, napalming children. The reason why the war stopped in Vietnam; was because certain people had enough courage to stand up, and, say, no; this war is all wrong; and, it must stop, right NOW!

I can understand when people say they have family who have been fighting over there; and, are fighting over there; or, are going to fight over there; therefore, they are concerned about their own family members future. But, my own view is, maybe, your family shouldn’t be over there in the first place; after all, it’s not their country; so, let them come back home and be safe.

What was it John Lennon said, “Give Peace a chance!”

  • Thanks Paul….a great comment . and Yes … saying ‘Assange for President’ is a tongue in the cheek joke. It’s an effective slogan to state my point as well and to show my support for anyone that’s anti-war.
Anyhow if Assange was President…there wouldn’t be a Afghan war.

Actually, I wonder about people who have family fighting in other people’s countries expressing worries that their own family might not be safe; do they ever stop and think about the families of the people in Afghanistan who are being killed off in the ton loads?! War is a truly terrible thing; because it leads to really hard hearts, and, on both sides; those that want the war to continue…/and, those that want revenge for having had their own family being killed off! In the end, war just isn’t good! It’s just a load of crap!

  • I’m sure none of the Afghan war supporters in Australia care too much for people in Afghanistan who are being killed off in the ton loads. Anyhow just as well the Afghan war supporters in Australia are a minority group because there’s a chance that the Afghan anti-war movement here may finally get to have the war stopped.
