you are red Shanghai silk, merlot
spilled careless
a martini olive with an aged
gorgonzola center
let’s walk in the jazz of this downtown, your hand
through mine
let’s blow girl kisses
at the women on corners
who clutch their purses
closer
we are contagion and lovely now
with the traffic sounds like Miles Davis
kind of blue, this rain
is his staccato
let’s blow loose on pavement, girl
Gene Kelly’s
and let the vodka run through us
like a cure

excellent.
I agree, Amber, this is a beautiful, vivid and flowing poem.
dear lord this is lovely.
more please!
would sound lovely read outloud!!
This is the first thing I stumbled across when I found Reb Bubble, and it’s just beautiful. I’ve been working on a story about a couple best friends who had lost track of ech other and when i read your poem, I could picture them, back when they were younger, out having a good time.
I really like this, the blues feel of it is so cool, and the way you’ve put the words together, so laid back and fresh like a quiet evening at a jazz club
Is there a bad writer on this site???(Hoping it’s not me, lol)
Wow just when I think my writing is arriving, I read these great poems and I feel like square-one all over again….
