This painting has a surreal appeal. It was created with a deliberate “off-balance” appearnce which gives it its kick. The complmentary blue and orange are the main players with lower keyed siennas supporting them. The symbolic butterflies lead the viewer to suspect that there is a story unfolding in the painting. The dark corner and dark window in the background lend a bit of mystery to complete the effect. Touches of irridescent color have been added in a few areas(perhaps these may not be visible on your screen).
