March 7/09 Rome, Italy
This is the view off the rear of the National Monument of Victor Emmanuel II (the Wedding Cake) in the Piazza Venezia.
From here you can see many ruins and temples towards the Roman Forum in the center area.
To the left, the closest arch is the Jewish Arch. The further arch is the Arch Of Constantine which is near the entrance to the Roman Collosseum (just out of the picture on the left).
There are many excavations near this area uncovering the past glories of ancient Rome.

    wow,,,fantastic ,ancient view

  • Thanks greatly Sean. It is possible most Europeans may take these old structures for granted, but it is a real eye-opener for us newbies from North America.

Wonderful glimpse into the past! Well done!

  • Many thanks Pat. I just loved the history that is preserved everywhere in Europe. Many of these ruins are 20 times older than some of our cities!

This must have been just marvellous to see first hand. Great shot, Al, and thanks for sharing it.

  • It really was quite incredible to walk through old ruins that may even date before Christ!
