A very impressive, all black Percheron eight horse hitch, done four-abreast, completing an initial turn pulling a large wagon on runners. One of the interesting highlights was that these eight comprise of mixed teams of four from two different owners and yet their footwork is almost in unison!! Taken Canada Day July 1/09 at the Bar U Ranch near Longview, Alberta. The Bar U has a long history of raising purebred Percherons. These amazing horses are bred for pulling heavy loads and have huge feet with hairy fetlocks, strong necks and shoulders and incredibly strong haunches.
Terrific job Al !! Was this a display put on by the Teamsters?? They did that at the State Fair in CA and we watched it one year, they amazed me at how well trained those horses were and what a thrill to watch them work together!! I love this photo!! You really did this right!!
Thank so much Bette. The Bar U Ranch raises and sells these horses so they had two owners bring in their teams of four and they combined them for this demo. It was amazing how eight horses, trained by separate owners, could work so well in unison. I have another shot to be uploaded much later where you can see all eight sets of legs synchronized to perfection. What a sight!

Beautifully photographed Al.. Kickin dirt & all.~:)
Those eight stirred up a little dust in that dry arena with those huge hooves, pulling that runnered wagon like it was a feather.
