Eight Horse Hitch III

Eight Horse Hitch III

Look at that synchronized footwork!!!!
These wonderful black beauties performed turns and pulled the wagon on runners with ease. I had never seen an 8-horse hitch done in 2 sets of 4 abreast before!
These are two different teams with different owners intermingled for this demonstration and yet look how well the legs are synchronized…. Amazing!
Taken Canada Day July 1/09 at the Bar U Ranch near Longview, Alberta. The Bar U has a long history of raising purebred Percherons.
These amazing horses are bred for pulling heavy loads and have huge feet the size of dinner plates, strong necks and shoulders and incredibly powerful haunches.

Funny you should mention synchronised footwork! I was just thinking that the other day when I saw two horse pulling a cart! Eight must be wickedly complex! Great shot of these wonderful critters and skilled drivers!

  • Al Bourassa replied

The footwork is even more incredible when you consider that these are two separate teams from two different owners! These horses have an innate inbred sense of timing.
