This is brilliant Al – I went to a rodeo in January took heaps of shots – None too sucessful though :( I love this.

Thank you for the lovely comment. We need to take heaps of shots to get a single gem. “Some days are diamonds, some days are stones” according to the John Denver song.

Wonderful photography Al. This is the photography i would die for, well not die for but would love to do, as im such a cowgirl myself. Stunning work….....:)
Al Bourassa
We have a lot of rodeos outside the winter months in the area, although the indoor versions present some interesting challenges in lighting. I would never use a flash to distract a rider or animal.

I always thought I had 8 seconds in me. Excellent capture!
Al Bourassa replied
OK, so you want to, but never have. What’s stopping you? There are Senior tours (if you are feeling too old to try).

So what happens? You just get on a horse and you’re in a rodeo? No training? I’ve never been to a rodeo.
Al Bourassa
There is training available, and everybody got on the first time somewhere. We have bars here with mechanical bulls to practice on.

excellent work always
Al Bourassa replied
Thank you for the sweet compliment Linda.
Jan Timmons
What an amazing action shot. Panning? And you captured his hat, too! Great work, Al.
Al Bourassa replied
I guess panning is a necessity with a moving target. Very tricky in the low light. I was at a rodeo last night again but didn’t take too may shots.

Cheers, Al
Heloisa Castro
great capture!!!!
Al Bourassa replied
Thanks you so much Heloisa. I appreciate it.
TaniaLosada
great shot! difficult one!
Al Bourassa replied
Thanks for the kind comment Tania. The lighting is the biggest challenge with the intense motion.

These series of images fit into the “extreme sports photography” edge :-) Love it all, and I know w have been in contact about this genre for a couple of years now.
