What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know, goes away in the end You could have it all, my empire of dirt I will let you down, I will make you hurt “Hurt”- Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails / 1994 Coogee Power Station – South Fremantle – Western Australia View the rest by clicking here:
My goodness that is an elegant stairway, most unexpected in this building. I really must visit it. Lovely shot and looks good in mono
Thanks Mik, yes it is a stunning art deco piece, even in its decay. She was obviously very grand in her day and although she has aged somewhat disgracefully, she is still a picture of boldness and strength and beauty.
Thanks Julie, it was hard to concentrate! I had seen photos of this before I went and was determined to discover it. I must admit, I was still completely overawed when I walked in.
Oh. My. Goodness. I want to crawl into this photograph! Stunning work!
Oh Wendy!! You would love this place. It is hard to even articulate the sensory impact it has. The colours, textures, grunge, play of light, surfaces, history, etc all made it so hard to concentrate. I could have come away with literally thousands of macro rust shots, OR paint shots, OR wide angle landscape shots, OR art shots, OR architectural shots… This place is under my skin now.
Congratulations!! You have been featured in the Cee’s Which Ways Group (clickable banner) Please check out our Challenges
Thanks so much Cee! This was an amazing trip into an abandoned space that was quite profound. The staircase and foyer is majestic, even it its state of ruin and neglect. So thrilled this has been featured. Thank you again! :)))
It should never have been allowed to get into this state. It deserves a better ending.
It is the frustrating part of being a Heritage property I guess. It can’t be modified but also can’t be sold or developed until the government decides what to do with it.
