Stirk Park Reflections by

Stirk Park – Kalamunda – Western Australia
In 1881, Frederick and Elizabeth Stirk settled on a ten acre property and built a modest colonial style cottage from locally obtained materials. Stirk Cottage is now surrounded by parkland and named Stirk Park in honour of the founding family.

I love the ornamental trees and gardens in Stirk Park as they are offer a variety of changing colours during autumn and winter, which contrast with our native eucalypts. There is also a gentle creek running through to a pond. Stirk Park also features a Memorial Walk with trees and plaques to commemorate the fallen from World War I and II who are on the Kalamunda Roll of Honour.

About Akrotiri

I live in Western Australia and love to capture moments that we may easily miss or pass by. I need to slow down, live life, notice the little things and breathe….. rather than rush to my next meeting through the artificial world. Beauty is all around us, we’re usually so busy we forget to look… But the more you look, the more you see…
Unless stated, my images are straight from the camera with minimal processing.

Looks a beautiful spot, well taken.

  • Thanks Colin, it changes with every season which is lovely to see. I do love our native flora but my Yorkshire blood loves to see the autumn leaves!

  • Thanks Sophia! It was rather a crisp day, but lovely. You can’t see it in this shot but there were some little ducklings out and about too. Thanks for stopping by!
