Leucadendron sessile the Sun Conebush
A medium sized bush with narrow leaves and native to South Africa. They have a fantastic spiral centre which blossoms and sometimes changes colour.

Perhaps Norman Foster used these buds as his inspiration for the now famous gherkin building in London, rather than the pine cone…

I live in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is rugged, remote and ancient. I love to capture moments that we may easily miss or pass by. I need to slow down, live life, notice the little things and breathe….. rather than rush to my next meeting through the artificial world. Beauty is all around us, the more you look, the more you see…
Unless stated, my images are straight from the camera with minimal processing.

Lovely shot! I like the way it spirals inwards…or is it outwards? :)

  • Thanks Lori – I’m not sure either!
