Heritage Listed Art Deco Building
The old power station has fallen into disrepair and is now filled with urban art. The building opened in 1951 and housed the first major power generation in Western Australia specifically designed to generate AC current at 50Hz. It could now be advertised as a “renovator’s delight” as it has a fantastic facade and sweeping ocean views.

Great shot Louise! I can get some idea of those views – why on earth don’t they do something with it! I looked it up on Google and imagine what they could do with an urban renewal type project. SHops/art gallery/cinema etc on the ground floor and apartments upstairs and maybe a restaurant on the top. It is a wonderful looking building. Gone on my list of places to visit when we next ‘go west’!
Yes, it is in a great spot isn’t it – put it on the list for sure. It is an amazing place. A bit overwhelming with soooo much to see and I had to really concentrate or I would have come away with 2GB of rust/peeling paint shots!! Thanks for popping in Odille :-)

Kinda sad if they did do something with the place were would we go to see all this wonderful art that fills this place but I can see also that this building now has a limited life span which is such a waste .
I know, I think there is a lot of mixed feelings about developing the site or not. See it while we can I reckon. Maybe shires should provide more spaces for art like this? People definitely go there to see it!!!
