I am a retired software engineer .
I started my career in 1961 writing programs for one of the first computers in the world in assembler language on 5-channels punched tape. I retired in 2004 while I was working on the Blu-Ray project.
To give you an idea of the progress in the computer world : If you want to make a copy of the content of a Blu-Ray disc on a punched tape, the length of the tape must be at least 60000 kilometers.
