He wasn’t my first choice; I would have preferred Dennis Kucinich (rhymes with spinach), for whom I was a volunteer speaker in the 2004 Democrat primary, or Ralph Nader (whom I voted for in 2000 – a decision that I later came to regret, although I still believe that he would be a great President) – or even the quasi-Libertarian Republican, Ron Paul.
Be that as it may, I would have voted for a rabid hyena rather than McCain/Palin and their doctrine of corporate welfare and ‘Preemptive War’. I really doubted that the USA as we know it could have survived another 8 years of the same mess that we’re in now.
May God bless and protect the people’s choice, President-Elect Obama, and let’s all put racialism and bigotry in the dust-bin of history, where it belongs, behind us, and hope for the best.
It is also devoutly to be hoped that the election of the first Gentleman of Color as our President will go a long way toward healing the hideous scar that the shameful practice of slavery has, for so long, disfigured our nation.
I hope that some of our former allies will return. God knows we will need all of the help we can get if we are ever to climb out of the horrible quagmire that is the legacy of 8 years of the Bush/Cheney regime.

Yes I did! And I’m overjoyed that he will be our next president. I hope he can dig us out of this dismal place we are in thanks to eight years of a murderous idiot and his cronies. Great uplifting design. I bet Obama would love it!
