Beautiful capture Rick and Deb, reminds me of the baby we rescued in July…I got to hold him, and let me tell ya…not a small bird…LOL

  • Hi Mindy THANKS SO MUCH!! Oh I am SO ENVIOUS!!! To hold an Eagle would be a momentous occasion … one that would be so hard to forget … They had a young Eagle at the Bird Re-Hab facility in Anchorage, they appropriately named him “Sparky” this young Eagle was found laying near a utility line, he had been shocked, the arc of the current actually blew a hole through one of his wings … they were so surprised that he survived. I don’t know if he is still there, as once he was fully recovered the was going to be sent to New York where he was going to become part of a teaching program (most likely with Fish and Wildlife … the news didn’t relay that part). You are so lucky to be working with a rescue facility, I truly envy you. Take Care ~ Deb ~ :)

  • I had a few issues trying to open your above link … finally managed to open the photo … all we can say is “WOW!!” Both my husband and myself envy you that opportunity … it just gives me shivers of excitement. Would love to see the rest of your photos (that I imagine you have on Facebook … if you would like to become friends (on Facebook) you will be able to find by searching for Deb Larson. My husband wonders if you ever made it up to Alaska and met Jean Keene aka The Eagle Lady of Homer (she passed away the 13th of January) she was a fabulous woman who loved her Eagles so much, she looked after them and they watched over her … an amazing bond you couldn’t find anywhere else. Take Care ~ Deb ~ :)

This is so very beautiful!! You are lucky to see such beautiful wildlife. xo

  • THANKS SO VERY MUCH Lori!! During the summer months while on the river, we will generally see many Eagles, a Common Loon or two, Red-Throated Loons, Osprey, Sandhill Cranes and maybe a Bear, Caribou or Moose … you never know what you are going to see. We have to agree …. we do feel pretty lucky to live where the wildlife roams anywhere and everywhere (even the streets of Anchorage … no kidding!!). Take Care ~ Rick & Deb ~ :)

Hi Rick and Deb, here is the whole story behind me and the rescued Bald Eagle chick…Being with the eagles is pretty much my life’s passion…I am sure you will love this story…it is very heart warming…I would love to go to Alaska to photograph those eagles….So sad that Jean passed away…but I have not nade it there..yet…I will..let me know what you think of the story :-) I will look for you on facebook

  • Thanks Mindy, really enjoyed reading the story. It’s so good to know that there are people out there that will take their time to help an injured animal whether it is domestic or wild … SO KUDOS to those who found the eaglet and kept him alive so that he could be rescued. Had you ever heard of Jean Keene, she was known world wide … especially since she became involved with the Eagles up here. Thanks again and Take Care ~ Deb ~ :)

  • Hi Mindy … just read the article about the eaglet … wow … how amazing, the people who found him and kept him alive are amazing people. It’s a GREAT story, reminds us of something similar that happened up here. It is amazing that they can be introduced into another nest and be accepted. I really envy you the time you are able to spend with these fabulous wild creatures (it’s just too bad that you have the opportunity because they’ve been injured). Thanks for passing along the eaglets story … so glad it had a happy ending. Take Care ~ Rick & Deb ~ :)
