Taken in the wild off Homer Spit, Homer, Alaska on 2-23-2009.
The adult Bald Eagle was perched with a fish when the very brave immature/juvenile Eagle decided to land on the perch and gingerly side step towards the adult Eagle in an attempt to grab the fish, the juvenile did manage to grab a piece of the fish and then flew off without encountering an injury.

OOOHHHH, this is fantastic capture!! I would love to come visit you guys one day and witness this stuff, they are so beautiful :)
Hi Adam, THANKS SO VERY MUCH!! If you ever get the chance to visit Alaska in the near future, just let us know…as to photographing the Eagles end of December through March would be the best time. I don’t know if you read any of the info on a few of our Eagle shots that we dedicated to Jean Keene aka the Eagle Lady of Homer (you can google her on the web), she fed the wintering Eagles of Kachemak Bay since the winter of 77/78, she passed away on 1-13-2009 (just after we had been down to see her and her Eagles 1/6 thru 1/8/2009) at this point we do not know if the feedings will continue on after the end of this month (for the coming winters) we are keeping our fingers crossed that the city of Homer will decide to allow someone else to continue this in Jean’s place, professional photographers come from all over the world to photograph these Eagles, there are also photo tours that come from all over the world during the feeding season, so let’s HOPE that this will not end, as it is an awesome experience to be amongst these beautiful birds. Take Care Deb :)

Wonderful image Deb. Is this mum feeding her baby or did the adult just happen to drop in on the juvinile?
Hi Rosemaree, THANKS SO MUCH!! I should have explained this shot in the description (so I will have to make sure I do that), what is going on here is that the adult had the fish when here comes this ‘very brave’ juvenile that figured he was going to steal from the adult…and he did end up getting a piece of the fish…don’t know if I would have been that brave, lol. Take Care Deb :)

Wonderful action capture of two Bald Eagles interacting with one another! Very nicely exposed too! : )
Hi Sandy, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!! I need to put an explanation as to what was going on here in the description, as the adult had the fish and this juvenile thought he was going to fly over, land, sneak closer and closer then grab the fish (it did end up getting a piece….that was one very brave juvenile). Take Care Deb :)
