A very powerful image! What a great close-up!

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi Lori, THANK YOU!! This was a close up capture, but I cropped it so that the focus was on the frost on the end of his beak, and on the moisture on each side of the upper section of his beak and his eye area. Take Care Deb :)

    Magnificent beauty – he’s frosty!!!!!

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi Lori, lol….we were too! It was sooooo cold when we were down photographing them, you could actually see the frost on their chest feathers. I loved how this close up came out as when I was taking the close up shots of this Eagle, I never noticed through my camera lens the frost at the tip of his beak, I did notice the moisture that was around his eyes and in the upper beak facial area, so the frost at the end of the beak is an added bonus. Thank You!! Take Care Deb :)

Such a beautiful capture, very powerful!!!!!!

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi flyfish, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am pretty proud of this close up capture, I really love the way it came out. This is cropped a bit from the original shot, so that the moisture around the facial area at the top of his beak and eye show up, the the frost at the end of his beak is a bonus as I never saw that when I was taking this guys picture. Take Care Deb :)

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

THANK YOU!! I think I’m a bit partial to this one, I love the way it came out (photographed…as the only thing I did with this capture is crop it to bring out the moisture on his facial area and at the end of his beak), he is such a beautiful mature Bald Eagle. Take Care Deb :)

    Stunning!

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi Cometman, THANKS SO MUCH!! I am pretty proud of this one, he’s such a beautiful Eagle, this shot was only cropped to being out the moisture around the eye and facial area, and the frost at the base of his beak….other then that it is straight from the camera. Take Care Deb :)

Hi Rick and Deb: I don’t think we’ve kept in touch since you left WS. But great capture here. Wow, nice close-up. Is that snow at the end of his beak?

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi, nice to hear from you again, it’s been awhile (sorry about that). THANK YOU!! That’s frost at the end of his beak…..it was mighty cold out, we had some frost on us too, kept frosting up the view finder and the LCD display on the cameras so kept having to place the camera near my body so they would clear up….had fun really viewing the Eagles while the camera wasn’t in front of my face. Take Care Deb :)

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi rfried, THANKS SO MUCH!! We just love the Eagles, as to how close was I to this Eagle….you probably won’t believe me….I was within three feet of this Eagle, it landed right next to me hitting the end of my camera lens with one of it’s wings when it came in for a landing….talk about an awesome experience!! Take Care Deb :)

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi jwinman, THANKS SO MUCH!! I used was a SONY 2.8/70-200G lens, and the Eagle was close as I was within three feet of it, it landed right next to me with and it’s wing clipped the end of my lens (what a rush that was!!). Take Care and have a GREAT weekend. Deb :)
