Mature Bald Eagle, taken in the wild off Homer Spit, Homer, Alaska. (Wonder if he’s counting his talons, or saying a prayer).

warm outer gear….oh dear…that’s on my wishlist too…lol As soon as we go subzero I stay in the house! I’d be a perfect candidate for Florida temps :)

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Renee…..now how are you going to capture those winter creatures in all their glory?? Two years ago when we were down in Homer to photograph the Eagles, it was blue sky and sunshine and we wore thin coats, last year there was snow, it was overcast and windy…so you never know what to expect. The excitement of the Eagles and being able to photograph them will definitely keep your mind off the cold :-)

oh this proud eagle really does appear to be meditating, another one of your glorious eagle shots for us all to enjoy

  • Rick & Deb Larson replied

Hi Lynda, thanks so much for such high praise of our Eagle photography (I was going to title it something like ‘Just counting my talons’ but figured ‘Meditation’ might be a better title). He was fun to watch as he would look up, switch directions then the head would go down again as if he was counting his talons or making sure they were still there, then he would switch positions and do the same thing, I took so many pictures of him (or her). There was actually another Eagle and they were sitting back to back (when I first started taking photos, and I took quite a few photos of both of them [one of the shots was printed in a digital photography magazine last year, and I entered it in a photo contest and it made Editors Choice], but then the other one flew off but this one hung around and let me continue photographing him/her. I don’t think we will ever tire of the Eagles and photographing them :-).
