Hi, these photos were taken at a wintering area here in Alaska, not a refuge of any kind, the eagles are in the wild in their natural habitat, (all of our wildlife photography is taken in the wild). Photographing Eagles is our biggest passion, they are such amazing creatures, and a joy to watch/photograph. Glad that you are enjoying our Eagles. Take Care.

Hi Sandy, lol, one could say that they were posing as with each click of the camera they would either look towards me or in a different direction, I don’t care how many times we see an Eagle, or two, or more, it is still an awesome experience. We do consider ourselves very lucky as we never see the same thing twice, but there have been times that there were no Eagles around, we never set out thinking that this is the sight we are always going to encounter. Alaska has so much to offer, and we enjoy every bit of it to the very fullest. Thanks so much for your visit!!

Hi Marjie, thanks so much for your visit and lovely comment. We are so glad that you enjoyed the photo. This sight is not an every day occurrence, most of our Eagle shots are taken during the winter months where there are areas here in Alaska that lots of Eagles congregate together, go to this area between April and mid December and you are lucky if you see 5 or 6 and they are generally flying around or sitting atop tall light fixtures and not on driftwood as they are here. Oh WOW Sharon, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! So exciting (this is one of my favorite captures….haven’t been able to get a group shot like this since I took this one in 2007….you are so very kind, and we really appreciate your continued support. We are currently on the Kenai River, Rick’s cousin and her husband are up from Texas…we took them to the conflux of the Russian and Kenai Rivers last Friday to fish for red (sockeye) salmon and they got to fish with a grizzly, it came within 35 feet of us (it was stealing fish from the anglers). Hey DJJJJJJJ…..it’s been awhile….glad to see you back. THANKS SO MUCH for the words of congrats, truly appreciate it!! Gosh….you’ve had great weather and ours has been rain, rain and more rain of late … and we have company (Rick’s cousin and her husband are up, their first trip to Alaska) so I really wish the weather would have been better. They have had a great time though as they’ve seen moose, moose and more moose, fished with a grizzly, and today we took them out in Kachamak Bay clamming and they saw lots of sea birds, puffins and a seal. Hey DJ…...yeah, but despite the weather they seemed to have had a good time and want to come back (hopefully next year) and stay a little longer so that we can show them more of Alaska (like Denali, Fairbanks etc). They really loved the cruise up from Vancouver, and loved their stop in Skagway the most. We took them to the airport last night so they are almost home (I think they arrive home around 6PM tonight (east coast time), so 1 more hour and they should be there. How are things going with you?
