Tarifa Island, the southernmost point in Europe, on 2010 New Year’s Eve.

It was a little stormy in Tarifa over New Year… It’s perhaps a little hard to imagine the scale of this. The birds give something of an idea. The old gun emplacement on the right is probably about the height of a two-storey house. And that’s Morocco in the background, 14km away across the Straits of Gibraltar.

Processing: HDR generated from five exposures (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) of a single image using Photomatix. As you can imagine it was a pretty grim day and despite the flash of sunshine, the original image was somehow lacking the drama of what was actually taking place. The HDR processing brought it very much back to life.
