Ye Ole House by

An abandoned delapitated house of warm memories. We pass by this farmstead everytime we go back to our ole home. Sitting on a hill it seemed lonely and I imagined kids playing around maybe 30 years ago. You can see the rusted wire fence with it’s rotting fencepoles and old trails going somewhere only the homesteader knew. I don’t really know why it was abandoned but there are many just like this around – probably the farmer couldn’t make a “go” of it. Legend has it that his wife died in childbirth here. These and old elevators are part of our history, reminders of ’days gone by". During the winter it looks even more in distress, sad, covered in a blanket of white. This is located in central Saskatchewan where the plains meet the boreal forest.

this is really beautiful – it feels really nostalgic and reminds me of Anne of Green Gables – which i love.

  • thanks Deborah, a new book is out of “Anne”, her early years?

Three words, six syllables….Picture Perfect Postcard!!!

  • Hey Steve, painted this too and added some buildings now gone, maybe I’ll put it up if there is enough pixels. I very seldom do landscape and they are not that good as you will see.
