The Missionary(Foretelling of) by

A story illustration(look in my writing) of the first meeting with the Missionaries which was foretold hundreds of years before the actual event. After this encounter our ancient world was gone and we had to deal with the new one. Any culture must be dynamic, adapt or die.

Once more, the simplicity of this painting in both artistic ability and the message it conveys is totally unique and very beautiful

Powerful colours especially the black and white and the detail on the bark of the trees .

thank you Nick; in fact there is quite a few transparent layers to this but you can’t see the ’effect ’ here or in reproduction. the sky has 5 diferent shades & hue of blue over a black base.

Another great painting. I am a Christian, but I certainly do not support the way the Church has behaved over the centuries and I don’t think Christ does either. I read of how the missionaries destroyed the totem poles and I can’t forgive them for this. Peace, love, compassion, tolerance … none of these existed amongst the missionaries who violated the First Nation’s culture … well, that’s my opinion anyway.

Alot of it was innocent though stemming from what they believed and were taught. That is why we should always know the Man before meeting.
