A Work In Red

A Work In Red by Arnold Isbister

A Work In Red

My youngest did this when she was 8 as a present. She did this entirely on her own except for me supervising the amount of Red she used. Cadmium Red is super expensive :) I tried to duplicate this innocence and simplicity, I couldn’t do it. Through the years we make so many of our own fences and attach rules to everything. This comes from an unfettered, open and totally original imagination.
Picasso said, one of his greatest regrets was not being able to paint or draw as he did when he was a child. So treasure those Artworks friends because your child will never think like that again.

again I thank you all and will pass these wonderful compliments onto her.
    • maybe they should have a “kids” section here; as parents I am sure we have a lot of old cards form Mother & Father’s Day that would be quite appropiate for cards as resale. Adults just can’t get that innocence in making ie, cards…....HEY ROGER, post this to your network if you can.

This is not collage….were you describing the painted blocks of color as metaphor to collage?

Maybe she studied Klee as well :)) What masterpieces will she be producing by the time she is twelve? You are wise to encourage your children in art Arnold.
