Such despair in the face. Awesome work
Arnold Isbister
thank you; stopped by and looked at your page – Great works, the b&w ‘docu-prints’ are really impressive.

I’m really starting to warm to the concept of mixed media and this is a wonderful example of it. I too think it is reminiscent of The Scream, but with an extra something that is purely yours. As I will be 58 in March, I can empathise with this guy in the painting. Time travels very fast and speeds up as you get older, so we mustn’t waste any of it.
Arnold Isbister
Thanks Dave. Yeah, sometime you need other ‘stuff ’ to make a statement or emphasize it.
Deborah Parkin
this is an amazing image – so much power and emotion – reminds me of the Scream but still very unique in its own way – very moving image.
Arnold Isbister
thanks, I remember doing this and the image just started to meterialize. I was looking for or thinking about the “mystery of Life” and the circle-rectangle came as the epiphany. I think Leonardo daVinci’s geometric Man within the circle/square was an influence.

My, what a horrible storm of turmoil but you’ve captured it well. If you were going for the heart you nailed it. If you wanted your audience to feel something when visiting your gallery, you nailed it.
Awesome stuff here.

Amazing self portrait it says so much to me. It’s like you’ve looked into the mirror and thought it’s all over too soon, and the horror and despair of not having time, the loss of youth, and yes time going fast and no way to slow it down. Really profound, I’m sure we all go through this to some degree.
Arnold Isbister
thank you Cate. You put it exactly as I felt it. I think everyone reaches that time in Life when he/she has that revelation.
andrea verstegen
I feel it. A very human and passionate drawing.
Arnold Isbister

power full arnie well done! yes getting old is shocking- the first morning you wake up- and realize it can be over any time- which what happened to me 4 months ago all my life i have been well except for a stress related problem at 52- so yes we are on the path to endinbg this great adventure of learning- we are nothing with out inner pax and faith in who sent us here?
sadly some are not good to us-for?-contemtment sakeso we hang on to our faith of men beinbg better- then they are and hope for the best-so this is a great drawing of truth of arnie- take care--and keep the smoke of lifeout of your wigwarm-and hoe the great oneis kind-amenArnold Isbister
....hopefully as a real artist we never stop learning, it’s our curse – read the Artists’ Lament” in my writings.
