Hello to all out there in RB-land :)

HUGE APOLOGIES!! It has been nearly a year since I was last on RB, for various reasons, but I hope to be around a little more often now that things have calmed down a little in my life.

Apologies to all those RBers who have commented, favourited and purchased my work in the past 12 months and I haven’t contacted them back.

Apologies also, to those who have submitted work to my groups and haven’t had the works moderated, I will gradually work through the backlog in the coming weeks.

MUCH love to all my old friends, I hope you will forgive my absence!

A very quick hello!

Hi to all my wonderful RB friends, big hugs and kisses to you!

I know I haven’t been around the bubble much, and I’m sorry to say I won’t be for a little while.

My job has just gone completely insane and crazy with no end in sight just yet, and I have no internet at home any more dues to computer crashes, loss of dial-up and no way of getting broadband or wireless….very frustrating!! So I am sorry not to have caught up with all your lovely comments and the beautiful works you’ve all been producing.

I promise to look in when I can, but sorry if I miss HEAPS of stuff, please don’t take it personally!! :(

Best Wishes for the Festive Season!

To all my WONDERFUL Red Bubble friends, I am wishing you Happy Christmas ? Yule? Hannukah? Summer Solstice? Atheist’s Holiday?? Any and all of the above, whatever this time of year means to you.

Thank you so much for the support, encouragement and friendship you have given me over the last two years here on RB, it means SO much to me!

I will be signing off RB for the holiday period (with paintbrush in hand I hope!), so see you all on the flip side!

New group for Collaborations!!!

Caren Grant and I are hosting a new group HERE called Collaborative Effort.

If you are one of the MANY artists here on RB who collaborate with other artists/photographers/writers/illustrators etc, this group is for you!

We’d love to see you there, and look forward to seeing your wonderful collaborations!!!

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I am very excited to have my art selected, from over 46000 works of art, to exhibit in SoJie 7. SoJie 7 takes its name from the Solo Exhibition group’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 7th one, ever, and 73 other artists, besides myself, are represented.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on September 29th, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art, photography, and traditional art.

Non members, as well as members, ARE welcome to view all of the work nominated. So I hope that you will click the show banner, above, and follow the link to view my fellow exhibitors. The works are shown “gallery size” and ar

Art materials - I've discovered a fantastic primer!

Some of you may already be aware of THIS fabulous product, but if you’re not let me share with you how great it is!…

It is a water/acrylic based primer, used mostly by pastel artists, but I have found it is amazing for use with all sorts of media, including coloured pencil, watercolour pencil, oil pastel or even, for unusual results watercolour and acrylic. It comes in a very wide variety of colours, though I mostly use the white or clear, which can also be tinted with acrylic ink for any array of colours if you wish.

It gives your surface/support better “tooth” to grip whatever media you are using, which is really handy if you are using unusual materials to paint on in your art, or even just to vamp up the pigment-grabbing abilities of your paper.

One area I have found it is of most use

The Poppy Series

I am coming towards the end of my poppy series (although there are still probably six or seven more to upload, and possible another few that I haven’t painted yet!)
The series do far:

I am currently gathering inspiration and source material for my next series which will be MAGNOLIAS, another flower series (it’s always my first love when it comes to subject matter). Magnolias are incredibly beautiful flowers, and to date I actually haven’t ever painted them, so I am going to remedy that!!

A truly amazing artist!

If you haven’t yet come across her work, carolsuzanne paints some beautiful work.

She has a unique style, and is not only a fabulous artist, but a truly generous, kind and wonderful woman. Below are some links to works from her profile that are favourites of mine. (she has her works protected, or I’d show you them here)

Red Sky at Night Raven and the Full Moon

Twilight Bear, Grizzly Bear

DisCo Abstract WIP

“The Disintegration Collaboration (fondly known as the DisCo Project) was inspired by Mixed Media Artist Seth Apter’s captivation with the effects of time and nature on various materials..the idea being to collaborate with Nature to create new materials and then new art…instead of buying new, lets reuse, but also let nature help us……

more info here on the Disintegration Collaboration Project.

This is a work in progress that I began using an old abstract oil painting that I was never happy with and so went unfinished. I decided to embellish this work using papers from my DIsCo bundle:

I have started by pasting papers from the bundle directly onto the painting. Next I wanted to highlight areas with Gold acrylic ink:

The next stage will be to wash over the collage with sepia ink, and t
