There’s a lot going on here. I did a painting called Colour Explosion back in 1967 … yes, I know that dates me … but it wasn’t anywhere near as detailed as yours … I hope it succeeded in lifting your spirits … well done.

  • Alexandra Felgate replied

Glad you like it Dave! Yes its a complex one alright.
Hmmm 1967….do I dare mention that was before I was born??? Aargh, don’t hit me!! Sorry my friend, you know I’m only joshing!!
Would love to see your Colour Explosion if you still have it!! And yes, it did lift my spirits, I think I’m heading into a lovely weekend because of it!! :)

Thanks Catherine, I must admit I keep seeing new little bits in it too, its very complex and I think it sort of directed me rather than the other way round.

My my my, I’m certainly flattered to get a comment about color from you. Especially after seeing this. Upon close examination, I noticed you thought very critically about the placement. My eye keeps moving, and that is a job well done! :] Love it.

  • Alexandra Felgate replied

Lee you have an eye for colour yourself, and your comment here proves it! Not everyone will see the colour placement was so deliberate to give that movement, so thank you very much for your insightful comment xx

great mixed medium painting…fab abstract design and definitely an explosion of colour!

  • Alexandra Felgate replied

Thanks very much Linda, I am still trying to push the boundaries (self-imposed LOL) when it comes to colour, and I was very pleased with how this turned out, so its great to see you enjoy it too xx

Love the colors! the center has a just-done flavor – sort of wet looking too.

  • Alexandra Felgate replied

Thank you Jude :) That lovely wet feel comes from using glass paints on paper, takes an age to dry, but the effect is great.

Like it Alexandra, like it Alexandra! There is something new going on here for you. Great colour and a very dramatic piece. There is a little wildness coming out in you here. After your tiring week one can see that you are letting all that aggression out. Go for it girl! A bit of a mix between a Felgate and a Jackson Pollack.

  • Alexandra Felgate replied

Thank you Orla!! It is quite a departure from my usual abstracts thats for sure! (and thanks for the pollock comment, I find his work very inspiring!) I tried to replicate what I had done on this over the next few days, but none of the others had the amazing vibrancy and movement of this one….ah well, we can but try!!!
