Lila, Inside-out
Lila, Inside-out belongs to the following groups:

Rotting apple.
Glorious, rotting, inside-out apple
for the beetles and birds
to get drunk on.
2.
Lila Shook festoons
her body
in scarves,
some silk, some wool.
She wears two coats,
one over the other,
buttons missing on both.
There is something about her
that she should let boys
use her body
like a carpenter
uses his glue.
Her arms dangle,
there – and oh! -
there, too (see?).
The two of them
like scarves,
one silk, one wool.
3.
She’ll never receive a letter.
All the better, though.
Lila Shook can’t read
anyone’s handwriting
but her own.
She’s sewn the buttons back on her coats
but did them
all down the backs.
She’ll button those coats
together
and wear them like meat,
wrapped.
4.
She rots like apples,
she’s rotten drunk on wine.
She’s inside-out,
but she’s mine.

no powdery scent of myrrh
inside-out,
someone has affirmed her
